For the rare cases we can not handle, we have developed close working relationships with several referral clinics. Our new state of the art surgical suites are designed and fully equipped to provide the very best care for your animal. Pulse-oximitry and ECG units are used to monitor your pet's vital signs while under anesthesia.

We have a very capable in house laboratory staffed by highly trained and experienced personnel. For those test we are unable to preform we send them to several leading veterinary university labs. Our imaging department includes state of the art digital radiology( X Ray). this allows us to consult with board certified radiologist in a real time basis. We also preform abdominal ultrasound studies and electrocardiography.

The management of our hospital is constantly making every effort to provide you and your pets with the best quality of care possible. We have voluntarily subjected ourselves to the rigorous standards set forth by the American Animal Hospital Association. We invest heavily into continuing education to capture the newest and best techniques available.
Medical Records
Our medical records are the tread that holds everything together. This allows our Veterinarians to work closely together. We feel when things are difficult it is far better to have several heads than one. Also if one of our Veterinarians is not available, another can step right in providing seamless care for your beloved pet.

Facility
In the later part of 2006, Down Maine Vets completed and opened a state of the art addition. With this addition, came the ability to provide more and improved services for your pet. There are now 6 new examination rooms equiped with "Pet Smart", a touch screen computer system allowing access to your pets medical records and digital x-rays. Pet Smart also includes a personal video learning center.Additionally, an expanded new lobby, including an education and sales area, were created for the comfort of your pets and you.
- During the renovations upgrades also included new equipment:
- "Bear Huggers" to keep your pet warm during surgery;
- High speed dental drills to speed and lessen the stress on the pet during dental proceedures.
- Digital Imaging Systems to providing immiediate x-rays which are more accurate, and more environmentally friendly than our older film systems.
