Michael Bukowski DVM Practice Owner
(With "Truffles")

Hello, and thank
you for considering the Down Maine Veterinary Clinic for your pet's healthcare
needs! For the better part of two decades, I have had the honor and privilege
of being able to help the people of Sanford and Southern York County care for
their pets. I would like you to know that I strive to treat every client and
patient with the due diligence and respect that I afford my own family and
pets. I also expect nothing less from my staff.
I enjoy all
aspects of the general practice of veterinary medicine and surgery and find it
most rewarding that being a veterinarian allows me to combine the great human
invention of science with the great human virtue of compassion. I do my utmost
to ensure that the procedures and therapies chosen for my patients are
supported by the best available evidence and technology.
I am a 1988
graduate of Colby College and a 1992 Graduate of the New York State College of
Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University. It was at Colby where I acquired my
affection for the State of Maine and its people. Eager to return to the state I
love, in June of 1992 I was hired to work at the DMVC as an associate
veterinarian by Dr David Spahn and the late Dr William "Jack" Holt.
Under their tutelage I developed my strong work ethic and learned the art of veterinary
medicine. In January of 1997, I became a partner and in December of 2011
acquired the practice and property outright, allowing Dr Spahn to enter a
well-deserved semi-retirement.
I reside in
Wells, with my wife Emily (see Dr Thall below), our four children: Grace,
Henry, Nathan and Rose and our three dogs: Badger, a Boston Terrier, Dashiell,
a Doberman, and Truffles, a rescue terrier. We also enjoy the company of two
house cats Ginger "Gingah' the Ninja", Queenie McBeanie, and a barn cat
named Oliver.
When not working I enjoy spending time with my family, relaxing on Cliff Island in Casco Bay, snowboarding up at Sunday River and mountain biking in the woods near my house with Dashiell.
Thanks again for considering the DMVC!
